Costly mistakes lead to Georgia's first loss of the season
On Saturday, the Georgia Bulldogs suffered their first loss of the season as they were defeated by the Auburn Tigers, 27-24, in a game in which the Bulldogs ended the night with three turnovers, two interceptions thrown by quarterback, Gunner Stock, and a fumble lost by Stockton late in the game.
“That’s sort of the irony, is that for a couple of weeks now, Kirby [Smart] has preached this idea that ‘the dogs don’t beat the dogs’ and with respect to Auburn, who played a clean game and they took advantage of Georgia’s mistakes, that’s exactly what happened from my perspective,” Connor Riley, Georgia Bulldogs’ beat writer for Dawg Nation and the Atlanta Journal Constitution, said as he joined 92-9 The Game’s Carl Dukes and Mike Bell.
“Yes, it was the turnovers that told the big story, but Auburn only got three points off of those three turnovers,” Riley said as he explained why he believes that ultimately Georgia’s loss was not just a result of turning the ball over. “There was stuff throughout that game where like little things like them leaving plays on the field” also contributed to Georgia being handed their first loss of the season.Turnovers catch up to Georgia in loss to Auburn
