The Georgia Bulldogs are national champs for the second year in a row, and for the second consecutive season, Stetson Bennett lead the offensive charge for the Bulldogs. And when it comes to just how good the senior quarterback has been for the Dawgs, there has been a fair share of doubts as to whether or not he has proven to be worthy of being drafted by the NFL, and if so, just how high in the draft he may go.
Even with an invite to New York after being named a Heisman finalist, Bennett still did not appear to have garnered enough respect from some to believe he could be a quality NFL quarterback as the Bulldogs continued their journey to returning to the national championship game. And once Georgia punched their ticket into the title game, the question then became could Bennett raise his draft stock should he lead Georgia to back-to-back title wins.
On Monday, Chris Thomas was asked by producer Daminon “DA-DA” Lewis to share his thoughts on whether or not Bennett’s performance of six touchdowns, four passing on 18 for 25 for 304 yards and two rushing touchdowns would be enough to catapult him into being drafted within the first three rounds of the NFL draft.
“No. Now you’ve gone too far,” Thomas responded to Lewis. And while initially stating that he was not sure Bennet would be drafted at all, Thomas eventually said that maybe Bennett would be picked in the sixth round.
