On Tuesday Andy Bunker and Randy McMichael reacted to the news and details of University of Alabama Head Coach Nick Saban’s new contract and how it stacks up to the new contract signed by Kirby Smart to remain the Head Coach at the University of Georgia earlier this summer.
With his new contract Saban will make $10.695 million in 2022 for his base salary. This does not include incentive bonuses. That is an increase from the $9.9 million Saban was set to make this season.
In the 2029 season, Saban will make a base salary of $12.7 million. Kirby Smart will make $11.75 million in that same 2029 season.
“There was no way Nick Saban was going to go into the season with Kirby Smart being the highest paid coach in the country,” said Randy.
“One assistant coach paycheck more than Kirby Smart (both laughing),” Andy added.
