A lot of things that will and could shake up the future of college football and the South Eastern Conference have been discussed at SEC meetings over the last couple of days, and one of the topics of discussion that has hit the headlines is the possibility of the SEC moving to a nine game conference schedule.
Earlier today National college sports reporter for Outkick.com Trey Wallace, who has been in Destin Florida covering the SEC meetings, joined The Morning Shift and gave Mike, Beau, and Ali insight on what he’s been hearing about the possibility of the SEC moving to a nine game conference schedule.
“I think this gets done. It feels like we’ve been talking about a nine game conference schedule for five years now every time we come down to Destin for these spring meetings, but yeah I do think we’re close, and to be honest with you in talking with some folks behind the scenes that were in these meetings I think they pretty much got a handshake agreement in place here, it’s not going to be formally written out, it’s not going to be discussed in a press conference by Greg Sankey, but once the CFP part gets figured out with the format that’s when I think the SEC will announce a nine game schedule.” Wallace said
It sounds like the SEC is waiting on some other parties, like the CFP as Wallace mentioned, and there may be some more kinks that need to be worked out in the meantime, but according to Trey a nine game conference schedule that has been looming for years looks like it will finally come to pass sooner rather than later.
