UGA QB Stetson Bennett joins J.T. Daniels on injured list

J.T. Daniels missed last Saturday's game with UAB and in his absence Stetson Bennett threw for five touchdowns in the first half as UGA rolled to a 56-7 victory.

Along with Bennett, who only had two incompletions on the day, QB Carson Beck saw some time, although he was much less effective, just 4-for-10 for 88 yards.

Georgia opens its SEC schedule at 7 p.m. this Saturday at home against South Carolina, but they may be forced to play a QB who is less than 100 percent.

On Tuesday evening it came to light that Bennett is dealing with some back injuries, although he is still practicing.

While part of this could just be gamesmanship from Georgia coach Kirby Smart, keeping the Gamecocks guessing about who may start on Saturday night, if the injuries to Georgia's top two QBs are enough to keep them out, they would be forced to play Beck, who has had much less success under center in his limited time on the field.

Smart did mention that all three guys (Daniels, Bennett, and Beck) have been taking reps at practice, so it may come down to a game-time decision on who is healthy enough to start.

Either way, it shouldn't matter for No. 2 Georgia who should handle unranked South Carolina no matter who is the starting QB.
