SEC Media Days are upon us as the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta is packed with reporters, coaches and the conference's top talent. This means that the season is right around the corner, and the Georgia Bulldogs are 47 days away from open their title defense against the Oregon Ducks at Mercedes Benz Stadium.
After capturing their first national title since 1980, the Dawgs have plenty of talent returning in the hopes of going back-to-back, but after setting the modern draft-era record for players drafted with 15, plenty of familiar faces are no longer wearing red and black.
While QB Stetson Bennett and TE Brock Bowers return to lead the offense complemented by an arsenal of additional weapons and DT Jalen Carter, along with LB Nolan Smith, returns to head up the UGA defense, replacing the production of the now former Dawgs suiting up on Sunday’s will be an uphill battle.
With that in mind, the question I’ll pose to you is - Which 2022 draftee from the Georgia roster will be the most difficult to replace? Your choices include:
- DE Travon Walker
- DT Jordan Davis
- LB Quay Walker
- DT Devonte Wyatt
- S Lewis Cine
- WR George Pickens
- RB James Cook
- LB Nakobe Dean
- LB Channing Tindall
- RB Zamir White
- P Jake Camarda
- OG Justin Shaffer
- OG Jamaree Salyer
- CB Derion Kendrick
- TE John FitzPatrick
In my opinion, you’ve got to start on defense after the unit allowed just over 10 points per game en route to a 14-1 record and the win over Alabama in the national title game. While Travon Walker may have been the number one pick in the NFL Draft, I feel that Nakobe Dean’s production and leadership as the unit’s captain leaves the biggest hole to fill on the UGA defense. Attempting to fill that void will be a pair of relatively unexperienced players in junior Trezmen Marshall and sophomore Smael Mondon Jr.
There’s plenty of room for debate with this question, so we want to hear from you. Comment your answer on our social media channels!
