With the emergence of the NIL and other rule changes in college athletics Dabo Swinney thinks college football could be headed for a major reset with power five conferences, Dukes & Bell weighed in on if Swinney is onto something.
Dukes said he agrees with what Dabo is saying.

“I agree with what Dabo Swinney had to say, we are headed this way already, I don’t know how soon it happens, maybe it’s three, maybe it’s five year, maybe it’s eight years, I don’t know,” Dukes said. “Dabo saying and this part I agree with talking about the restructuring of college football athletics, at some point you’re going to see the more prominent power five schools form their own division in football. Are you telling me with the division there already is and some conferences being upset for example the SEC has more control than the Pac-12, therefore the Pac-12 and the Big 10 saying you guys can’t do anything without us are they gonna all come to an agreement and come to one division? Instead of a power five lets just say we have all the power five under one umbrella, they keep their independence by still using the SEC, Pac-12 etc. but it’s one umbrella.”
Carl talked about how Coaches could force the game to change.
“When you have one of the most powerful coaches in college football says that the communication is not good, the rules are outdated, there’s so much bureaucracy that you can’t get anything done in real time, this is what other coaches are saying as well. When you have these kinds of powerful guys all on the same page, I’m talking about Kirby, I’m talking about Nick Saban, I’m talking about the top tier coaches, if they all feel this way it’s only a matter of time before it goes there, it’s going to happen.”
