Despite a slow start the Georgia Bulldogs showed why they are the top college football team in the country with a dominant second half performance against the 14th ranked Clemson Tigers leading to a huge 34-3 win over the Tigers to kick off their 2024 campaign.

The Dawgs were led by not only Senior quarterback Carson Beck, but also freshman running back Nate Frazier who finished the game with 83 yards on 11 carries, and a touchdown. Frazier was filling in for transfer running back Trevor Etienne who was held out of the game as a result of his arrest earlier this spring on DUI and reckless driving charges.

Now, while it hasn’t been confirmed that Etienne will be back for game two it’s expected the former Florida Gator will make his debut for the Dawgs in Athens against Tennessee Tech on Saturday. However, earlier today on The Morning Shift Mike Johnson and Beau Morgan explained why Etienne needs to be at the top of his game on and off the field because Nate Frazier could be D’Andre Swift 2.0 and potentially take carries away from Etienne even when he does return to action.

“Trevor Etienne, you might wanna keep your stuff together from now on because if you don’t you could find yourself playing second fiddle because this team is as talented at running back as they are everywhere else and Nate Frazier showed that.” Beau said.

Mike Johnson mentions how former Alabama quarterback and now College Football analyst for ESPN Greg McElroy called Frazier “D’Andre Swift 2.0”, and agrees with McElroy’s assessment.

“I mean he runs like D’Andre Swift, and he rides the wave kind of like D’Andre Swift and what I mean is that he does a good job of like kind of hiding behind blockers, letting his blocker clear a guy out in the second level, in the third level, and into the secondary and just kind of weaves back and forth, just kind of rides the wave you know kinda like he’s surfing behind those big lineman. I thought he did that numerous times.” Mike said.

Mike also adds on to Beau’s point about Trevor Etienne by saying “I don’t think you want to miss another game.” Johnson said.

After the game during his postgame press conference Coach Smart was asked if Etienne was suspended, but said “you know we don’t talk about those things…”.

With Etienne’s status for game two up in the air more carries could possibly be coming the freshman’s way, and that means more opportunities for “D’Andre Swift 2.0” to potentially make a case to be RB1.
