As the college football season is underway and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are off to a 2-0 start under head coach Brent Key, including a season opening win over then No. 10 ranked Florida State, the team’s fanbase has plenty of reason to be excited. On Friday, City of Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens joined Steak Shapiro and Sandra Golden on The Steakhouse and shared his thoughts on seeing his alma mater off to a great start and what it means for the City of Atlanta.

“At the start, you want to get it energized, get people to start buying tickets, start buying merchandise and they’re talking about it. That’s why we’re really excited about it at Georgia Tech,” Mayor Dickens said of the Yellow Jackets' start that now has them ranked No. 23 in the country.

However, while the buzz around the Jackets is at a high level, Dickens shared that he believes their matchup on Saturday is one that they will also need to secure a victory to keep momentum behind them going.

“This is important. We have to beat Syracuse this weekend in Syracuse and Syracuse is tough. This is a tough get,” Dickens told Shapiro and Golden adding “we have to win it,” and the Yellow Jackets can not downplay the importance of a win. “It’s not like going into it like ‘oh we’re 2-0, if we go 2-1 we’re still better than our Georgia Tech recent history.’ Nope, get this 3-0 and then watch you get up into the top 15 and everybody’s scared of you."
