As we head into the third round of the Georgia High School Association football playoffs, some teams that were favorites to win state championships were eliminated this past Friday. The biggest upset took place in 7A when Roswell scored as time ticked off the clock and the Hornets picked up a 46-43 win over North Cobb.

6A saw two top six teams season come to an end as both Brunswick and Kennesaw Mountain suffered defeats with Brunswick falling to Dacula and Kennesaw Mountain losing to Westlake. 5A had four top six teams suffer loss, as Ware County, Cartersville, Woodward Academy and St. Pius all had their seasons come to an end.


Riverdale was the lone 4A team to suffer a loss on Friday while in 3A the top two teams in Monroe Area and Oconee County both loss on Friday. 2A also had two teams fall as Bleckley County and Haralson County both had their seasons end on Friday. 1A Public’s Schley and Bowdon were the only two teams to lose, while all six 1A Private teams were victorious on Friday.
