Jameson Williams missed out on being teammates with DeVonta Smith at Alabama by a year, but sounds intrigued by the possibility of teaming up with him on the Philadelphia Eagles.

Williams didn't mince words when EJ Smith of The Philadelphia Inquirer asked him about it Wednesday, with the first round of the draft less than 24 hours away:

After winning the Heisman Trophy and helping Alabama to win the College Football Playoff National Championship in his senior season, Smith was selected by the Eagles with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Even as he played in a run-first offense, Smith caught 64 passes for 916 yards and five touchdowns in his rookie season.

Meanwhile, after catching just 15 passes in two seasons at Ohio State, Williams exploded for 79 catches, 1,572 yards and 15 touchdowns in what proved to be his lone season at Alabama.

The 21-year-old did tear his left ACL in a loss to Georgia in this year's College Football Playoff National Championship Game, and Albert Breer of MMQB says that the belief from the teams he has talked to is that Williams will begin the season on the PUP list. That would put him out for at least the first six weeks of his rookie season.

But the torn ACL could cause Williams to fall into a range where the Eagles could trade up for him or just draft him with the No. 15 overall pick. If they had to wait a few extra weeks for him to make his NFL debut, so be it. After that, they would be loaded at the wide receiver position for some time to come.

A selection of Williams would also increase the pressure on another former Alabama product, Jalen Hurts.
