Odell Beckham Jr. is going to have plenty of suitors as a free agent, and his former team is among the landing spots that makes the most sense.

Beckham continues to rehab the torn ACL he sustained in the Super Bowl as a free agent. He reportedly plans to sign with a contender by the end of the month, with the New York Giants linked to him.

Heads were turned when he stopped by the Giants facility earlier in the season, but that reportedly was so he could visit Sterling Shepard following his ACL injury. But the Giants are just a game out of first place in the loaded NFC East, and they could stand to bolster their collection of pass-catchers for Daniel Jones.

There is plenty of reason to think a Beckham-Giants reunion could be on the table. Giants safety Julian Love offered his thoughts on the chatter in his weekly appearance on “Tiki & Tierney.”

“I just missed him, I never had a chance to play with him, that was the year before I got there,” Love said. “I think for sure you want to look at anybody, I know Joe Schoen and (Brian Daboll) and all the upstairs guys look at fits, potential fits.  He obviously has a relationship with a lot of people in the building, but I’m not sure what the deal with that is. I’m not even sure if he’s able to play this year.

“All that stuff goes into (it), but yeah, that’s an upstairs decision. You want to see us have success and bring in guys who can help, no doubt, but also we can’t bank on short-term success. We’ve got to still build for our future.”

Since leaving the Giants, Beckham has played for a pair of different franchises in the Browns and Rams, winning a Super Bowl last season with Los Angeles. Things seemed acrimonious between the wideout and New York leading up to his trade in 2019, but perhaps the time away has helped change both sides’ outlook on the other.

“I think – what I’ve heard in this building, and I’ve obviously just been in this building, thankfully – is that you really appreciate stuff after it’s gone,” Love said. “You really appreciate being in this Giants building after you’re not anymore. The people, the community, yeah everybody has passion and it’s high-pressure, but they do it right. In the building, you just get treated a certain way.

“It’s one of the founding fathers of the league, the New York Giants are. And so I think that goes into effect, so yeah, I know in his heart realizes kind of what he had here, I’m sure, so I think that’s kind of what’s at play here.”

Some of the fiercest competition for Beckham could come from within the division. The Dallas Cowboys have not hidden from their interest in the 30-year-old, and the feeling appears to be mutual.
