Madison Bumgarner is still taking exception to players admiring home runs.
While the Arizona Diamondbacks southpaw turned in one of his best performances of the season on Saturday against the Washington Nationals — allowing two runs on four hits and striking out nine over eight innings — he was still upset about how Victor Robles admired a home run off of him in the eighth inning.

Robles, who does not hit many home runs, stared and watched from home plate as he launched a pitch deep into the left field seats.
“Guy’s a clown,” Bumgarner told reporters after the game. “No shame. No shame. It’s 7-1 and you hit your third homer of the year and you act like Barry Bonds breaking the record. Clean it up.
“I don’t care about giving up the run. Hell, we won 7-2, 8-2, whatever it was. It’s frustrating. I’m the old grumpy guy, I know, but that type of stuff, that didn’t use to happen. Now it’s, it’s ridiculous.”
Players admiring home runs is nothing particularly new, even for 32-year-old Bumgarner, who has taken issue with players in the past.
While with the San Francisco Giants in 2019, Bumgarner infamously got into a spat with Dodgers’ Max Muncy, who slowly trotted around the bases after hitting a home run off of Bumgarner, resulting in the two exchanging some words.
Bumgarner’s issue in this instance seems to be the fact that Robles’ admiration came with his team being blown out, but given his previous history, he probably would have taken exception even if the home run was meaningful.
