DJ Moore doesn't think this is Justin Fields' 'last rodeo' with Bears

Justin Fields clearly is aware of the possibility that he might’ve played his final game for the Chicago Bears. DJ Moore seems to believe the quarterback will be back next season.

Fields’ future is up in the air following this season. He’s shown promise in his young career, but hasn’t cemented himself as a franchise quarterback. With the Bears owning the No. 1 pick in the upcoming draft – which they own from their trade with the Panthers that also brought Moore to Chicago – it’s possible they will go in a different direction at the position.

The 24-year-old signal-caller offered plenty of thanks in his press conference following Sunday’s loss to the Packers “in case this is my last rodeo” with the Bears. Moore responded to the remark Monday in his weekly appearance on the Mully & Haugh Show.

“I didn’t even see that. His demeanor towards us wasn’t any different, but I’ve got to go back and watch it,” Moore said. “I don’t think it’s his last rodeo here, so I don’t know why he said that. But if it is, he’s a heck of a player and I love the guy. …

“I don’t think we would be talking about it if we didn’t have the No. 1 overall pick. I think we’re ninth or tenth right now by ourselves without the pick from Carolina, so I don’t know if we’d be having the same conversation.”

The 2024 quarterback draft class is a good one, headlined by USC’s Caleb Williams and North Carolina’s Drake Maye. The Bears own the top pick as well as their own pick at No. 9.

Moore is prepared to give any opinions the team might ask of him in his exit interviews, and if the question of quarterback comes up, he’s ready to endorse the incumbent.

“I think they know that (I want Fields back) by now,” Moore said. “I think the whole nation knows that.”
