If the Minnesota Timberwolves decided they wanted to shake things up, strip down and rebuild around Anthony Edwards and would be willing to part ways with Towns, should the Hawks consider making a trade for the former Kentucky Wildcats star? That was one of the scenarios that NBC Sports lead NBA writer, Kurt Helin posed to 92-9 The Game’s Jon Chuckery on Friday night as the two discussed some of the headlines from around the NBA.
“Let’s just for arguments sake say a Jaylen Brown is off the table for the Atlanta Hawks. Is there anybody else out there that you feel like that could be a good trade candidate,” Chuckery asked Helin in regards to potential offseason moves the Hawks could make to bolster their roster. And while Helin shared with the evening host that with the new collective bargaining agreement coming up within a year, many teams may start to make moves to either ad to their rosters or “get out of this,” add that this summer we are likely to see more trades than in years past.
One team in particular that Helin hypothetically pitched to Chuckery was the Minnesota Timberwolves, stating that should they decide that they have reached the point of rebuilding around Edwards and move on from Towns, The Hawks could consider that trade scenario. “Karl-Anthony Towns is one a lot of teams have their eye on,” Helin tells Chuckery.
