South Atlanta 'believing' leading to strong finish to regular season

With the regular season of the 2025 Georgia High School Association flag football season nearing, the South Atlanta Hornets, kicked off the week in a "must win situation" as they looked to pick up their first region wins in order to keep themselves in contention for a top four finish in the final region standings.

"The message was, we have to play hard. This is a game we need to win," South Atlanta coach, Justin Sizemore said of the Hornets entering the night 0-1 in region play and looking to pick up wins over the Carver Panthers and Maynard Jackson Jaguars, which they were able to do.

The night began with the Hornets dominating the Panthers in a 27-0 win as quarterback, Tytianna Perry finished the game with two rushing touchdowns and two passing touchdowns, both to Zaleigha Jackson, and then the Hornets closing the night with a 12-0 win over Maynard Jackson as Perry rushed for a third touchdown of the night as well as passed for a third one, connecting with Laniya Collins.

With the wins, the Hornets move to 6-7 overall, however more importantly, 2-1 in the region standings and remain within the top four positions with one more region matchups to go and Sizemore hopes to see the Hornets continue to "keep getting better" as they look to make a strong playoff push.

"From where we started to where we are now, it's a complete difference," Sizemore said of the Hornets continuing to improve as the season has progressed, crediting the players for "believing" in the process to help with the success they have been able to have.
