This UGA defense is "different" in all the right ways

Brandon Adams joined College Football Gametime to talk about how the UGA defense has elevated its play

The Georgia Bulldogs picked up the biggest win of the young college football season when they traveled up to Charlotte to play the Clemson Tigers. The defense showed out with a whopping seven sacks in the 10-3 victory. The defense was aggressive at the point of attack, and it showed. Brandon Adams of Dawgnation joined College Football Gametime to discuss.

"This was a different kind of defense we've seen Georgia play," Adams told us. "I think that's Dan Lanning's personality. I think he wants to unleash the pass rush and last Saturday they did."

It speaks heavily to the amount of talent that Georgia has stacked in this front seven. The unit is littered with top-end recruits and experience. Adams agrees with this, "And people always say, what happened to these five stars after they get to Georgia? Well... a lot of those guys are still at Georgia."

Of those guys, it's a junior season for the five-star players Nakobe Dean, Travon Walker, Nolan Smith, and a senior season for Adam Anderson. All of these guys had pivotal sacks for the defense last week. That's before you even mention guys like Jordan Davis who has emerged as one of the elite interior defensive linemen in the SEC.

"Georgia really unleashed the front seven," Adams said. "And it's probably a good thing because the back end is clearly a work-in-progress, but it may not matter if they're getting after the quarterback to the degree that they did this past week."
