While the Atlanta Falcons continue to find their stride offensively, over the pat few games, their defense has given them some much needed consistency. On Friday, The Steakhouse with Steak Shapiro and Sandra Golden, was joined by Atlanta Falcons play by play announcer, Wes Durham to preview Sundays’ matchup with the Titans and during their conversation, Shapiro asked Durham to share his thoughts on seeing the Falcons’ defenders “finally getting some guys on the ground on the sack numbers,” along with a secondary group that now has four interceptions on the season.
“The guys that are starting to emerge here, I’m mean Onyemata’s got nearly 20 tackles in his last four games with two behind the line and two and a half sacks,” Durham stated, responding to Shapiro and Golden as he noted several players and how their performance has had positive impacts for Atlanta defensively. Durham would go on to credit 16-year veteran, Calais Campbell for “playing at a high level” recently in addition to a couple of players that he believes have had more impact than some may realize.
“Steak, the stories that have been written are like Nate Landman right. I mean 37 tackles in his last four games,” Durham said as he praised the second-year linebacker for stepping in following the loss of Troy Anderson. “Landman has come in and been incredibly productive. He had a dozen tackles last week,” Durham said before telling the midday duo who his “favorite release to ever get in the NFL” to get elevated to the practice squad. “LaCale London comes in that game last week…three tackles, one for loss and a fumble recovery,” Durham said of the defensive end, who prior to playing in just his third NFL game of his career, was playing in the XFL last spring.
