The emergency room at MLK Hospital in Willowbrook has been overcrowded and under-funded for years. Now, it’s getting serious help from a healthcare giant.
Kaiser Permanente is making a $25 million donation to expand the emergency room.
Dr. Elaine Batchlor, the CEO at MLK, said it’s the largest donation they’ve ever received.
“This is going to be a game changer for us,” she told KNX News’ Jon Baird. “We were very concerned about the increasing volume of patients in a space that was clearly not designed to accommodate that volume, and now we are incredibly grateful and excited.”
Kaiser is also buying a $7 million modular building and loaning it to MLK while the ER expansion is being done.
