A possible auto-theft suspect who led authorities on a chase in the Boyle Heights area was shot by police on Tuesday.
An officer was also injured,. According to NBC 4, he was shot in the chest, but his ballistic vest stopped the bullet. He's in stable condition.
The shooting occurred near Garnet and Marietta streets. The suspect was allegedly driving a stolen pickup, which crashed, prompting the suspect to flee on foot and produce a handgun that he pointed toward pursuing officers.
