PITTSBURGH ( 93.7 The Fan) - The Clemson Tigers beat out the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Fiesta Bowl to earn a spot in the National Championship game against LSU.

This year's Fiesta Bowl and second college playoff game was a true testament to the sport.

LSU sent Oklahoma packing earlier on Saturday, and Heisman winner Joe Burrow was true to form as the Tigers defeated the Sooners 63-28.

The Buckeyes and Tigers had more of a barnburner.

The Buckeyes scooted to a 16-0 lead partway through the second quarter, but the Tigers scored 21 unanswered points to take a 21-16 lead halfway into the third quarter.

The Buckeyes answered the call on a gutsy fourth-down call that gave them a 23-21 lead in the fourth quarter.

The Tigers, behind Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne’s lead, retaliated with a score and two-point conversion to jump ahead 29-23.

While Justin Fields and the Buckeyes were in the midst of a game-winning drive, the first-year starter threw an interception to seal the game.

Now, the Death Valley Tigers are headed to the National Championship to take on Burrow and the rest of the bayou Tigers.

The game will kick off on Monday, January 13 at 8 p.m.
