DETRIOT (93.7 The Fan) - The Detroit Tigers released two players Friday, one of them being former Pirates infielder Josh Harrison.
Harrison, who suffered a hamstring injury in May was on the 60-day Injured List. He opted to have surgery to repair a Grade 2 left hamstring strain and a partial tear.
He had begun a rehab stint in Triple-A Toledo last week.
On Friday the Tigers said in a statement, “INF Josh Harrison has been returned from his rehab assignment, reinstated from the 60-day IL and given his unconditional release.”

August 9, 2019 Harrison was batting .176 with 146 plate appearances in 36 games before in injury.
Harrison, a two-time All-Star in 2014 and 2017, spent eight years with the Pirates, signed with the Tigers as a free agent.
The Tigers also released minor-league pitcher Sandy Baez.
