PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - Pirates closer Felipe Vazquez has been named the National League’s Reliever of the Month.
The All-Star recorded three saves during 10 appearances for the Bucs with 11 strikesouts allowing only four hits and one walk in 10.1 innings of work in August.
It is the first time Vazquez has won the award and the fourth Pirates closer to do so since the debut of the award in 2005.
Vazquez posted an 0.87 ERA and batters only hit .125 against.
