PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - As a life-long Pirates and Steelers fan, Garth Brooks said that playing at Heinz Field was a dream come true.
During his pre-show chat, Brooks declared that he is “in love with Ben Roethlisberger.”
And while Roethlisberger is Brooks’ “guy,” there is another sports legend that Garth declared as his hero.
“The real thing that stole my heart was a player here name Roberto Clemente…been a fan of his his since I was a baby, collected all his cards from my older brother and the fact that he passed away helping kids, he became a god to me.”
So it is no surprise that when Brooks took the stage on Saturday night at Heinz Field, he paid tribute to two of his favorite sports teams.
"I grew up as a kid in Oklahoma for a love of baseball and fell in love with a guy by the name of Roberto Clemente as a kid,” Brooks said on stage.
“From Roberto Clemente, I grew to love the Bucs. They were my team since I was a baby.”
“From there, [my love> grew to the only city that I’m aware of where every professional team wears the same colors—the city of unity!”
