(93.7 The Fan) In the closing seconds of Monday night's game against the Ottawa Senators a melee broke out that ended with multiple fines being handed out.
Penguins' Evgeni Malkin was given the maximum allowable, $5,000 fine for "high sticking" Jean-Gabriel Pageau.
The high stick was more of a chop as Malkin swung his stick with one hand hitting Pageau in the neck to shoulder area.
This is not Malkins first run in with NHL Player Safety for swinging his stick around.
Last season Malkin was suspended for a game for swinging his stick (high sticking) at Philadelphia Flyers' forward Michael Raffl; narrowly missing Raffl's head.
Pageau also received a $2,500 fine for "roughing" Malkin.
Pageau shoved Malkin in the head, which is what caused Malkin's fine worthy retaliation.
