Penguins Sign College Free Agent Drew O'Connor

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – The Pittsburgh Penguins announced Tuesday that they have signed college free agent forward Drew O'Connor to a two-year, entry-level contract.

21-year old O'Connor recently completed his sophomore season at Dartmouth, where he was named the NCAA Ivy-League Player of the Year and recorded a team-leading 21 goals and 33 points in 31 games. The 21 goals ranked fifth in the NCAA.

"Drew is a powerful skater with good hands, which helped him have a very good year at Dartmouth," Jim Rutherford said in a statement. "We are very happy Drew has joined the Penguins as we feel he can help our NHL club sooner rather than later."

The contact begins in the 2020-21 season and runs through the 2021-22 season and O'Connorw ill report to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on an amateur tryout contact for the remainder of the season.
