PITTSBURGH (93.7 The FAN) - It's the talk of baseball, the first outbreak of COVID-19 as at least 8 Miami Marlins players have tested positive.

Despite his exciting 2020 debut on the mound over the weekend, when Nick Burdi joined Andrew Fillipponi of The PM Team, their conversation quickly turned towards the players reaction to what's happening with the Marlins.

So how is Burdi handling the news?

"It's a little scary, especially for myself, having a pregnant wife at home," Burdi said.  "I think the biggest thing is making sure MLB, CDC, the trainers, medical staff, everyone kind of has a game plan ready for this.  I think we're going to know over the next few days how this is all going to shake out."

Burdi also took us through the Pirates protocols, saying they've "done a really good job."

Burdi walked us through what it was like for them this weekend on the road in St. Louis.

"We got to St. Louis, we got right onto the bus, and then we get to the hotel, nobody had to touch their bags.  Everything was sanitized.  Brought us to our rooms and then they had a little private room for us where food was being served, TV's, stuff like that.  So they're keeping it very clean, very safe and you just kind of got to hope that all teams are holding the standard and willing to do their part."

You can hear the full interview, including what it was like for Burdi making his 2020 debut and getting the final three outs in Manger Derek Shelton's first win, here.
