PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - Pittsburgh Penguins Captain Sidney Crosby has been named a finalist for the Hart Trophy. The award is given to the player most valuable to his team.

The 2018-19 Penguins season was a disappointment but one thing that didn’t disappoint was the all-around play of Crosby.

In 79 games, Crosby scored 100 points (35 goals and 65 assists). He led the team in points and assists and finished second to Jake Guentzel for goals.

Crosby previous won the Hart in 2007 and 2014. If he wins this year he will tie Mario Lemieux for the franchise record.

Tampa’s Nikita Kucherov and Edmonton's Connor McDavid are the other two finalists.

The winner will be announced at the NHL Awards Show June 19 in Las Vegas.
