An ex-MLB player voiced his proud support for former President Donald Trump by telling police "Blue Lives Matter" after he was arrested for a DUI.
Johnny Damon, who once played for the Yankees and the Red Sox, was stopped on Feb. 19 by the Windermere Police Department in Florida.
A Windermere police officer began to follow Damon's car after it began to drive erratically. The video from the police department shows that his wife, Michelle Mangan-Damon, was also in the car.
"I'm a good f****** guy," Damon tells the police officer at one point in the video. "Blue Lives Matter," he says, as his wife tries to point out their license plate saying "Look at our license plate...Blue Lives Matter, this is crazy."
He also says "We are all for cops....We are good people. We are good people I'm telling you we are not... I am all for you police officers."
Damon tries to defend himself by saying, "I know people are trying to target me because I’m a Trump supporter.”
The Orlando Sentinel reported earlier this week that in his arrest report, Damon's "blood-alcohol level was later measured between .294 and .300, nearly four times the state’s legal limit for driving."
According to a CNN story, "Damon was initially charged with one count of driving under the influence and one count of resisting an officer without violence, according to an arrest affidavit. Court documents show that he pleaded not guilty to the DUI charges, and the resisting charge was dropped."
Stuart Hyman, who is representing Damon and his wife, told CNN that the footage doesn't show the alleged erratic driving pattern. He also told CNN that Damon's wife was not charged.
