Before taking the mound to face the Washington Nationals on Thursday afternoon at PNC Park, pitcher Braxton Ashcraft learned he is going to be the father of a baby girl.
Pirates catcher Joey Bart wore a pink arm sleeve home plate indicating that Ashcraft and his wife Cassidy are having a girl.
Hannah Mears, on SportsNet Pittsburgh, says Cassidy was joined by some family members in the stands during the reveal with pink and blue cotton candy.
Mears says they wanted to do the reveal at PNC Park and on TV so family back home in Texas could see it.
Congrats to the Ashcrafts who got married last December.
