The wait continues for a detailed update on Mac Jones.

The New England Patriots quarterback got X-rays done on his back after the 20-7 loss to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. They reportedly came back negative, but because of the injury Jones was not made available to the media to explain what happened.

Jones will be reevaluated in New England, at which point there should be some direction on if he’ll miss any time. Asked Monday morning about the ailment during his weekly appearance on “The Greg Hill Show”, the Patriots head coach didn’t offer much.

“We’ll see,” Belichick said. “I’ve learned from many, many years of experience of doing this with so many different players and teams that there’s a lot of variation on where players are right after the game from where they are 12-18 hours after the game. So, see where things are this morning and go from there.”

It’s unclear which specific play Jones was hurt on, but he took a handful of pretty hard hits in the loss. Brian Hoyer and Bailey Zappe are the Patriots’ two other options at quarterback should Jones miss any time.

The Patriots next play Sunday afternoon against the Steelers in Pittsburgh.
