CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – Westlake police cited Browns receiver Rashard Higgins and left tackle Jedrick Wills Tuesday morning for drag racing.

The news was first reported by Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram.

Higgins and Wills were stopped at 9:26 a.m. at Coventry Drive and Crocker Road according to an incident report obtained by 92.3 The Fan after the cars were observed traveling westbound on Crocker Road.

Three units responded to two cars, one with Georgia license plates and the second with Texas tags, allegedly drag racing. Both drivers received citations according to the report.

Higgins is from Dallas, Texas and Wills is from Lexington, Kentucky.

Court records indicate that Wills, who was issued a speeding ticket in November by the Ohio State Highway Patrol for going 82 in a 60, was the second person cited for drag racing.

Officers also found a "suspected marijuana joint located and destroyed on camera" in one of the vehicles that was searched the report stated. It is unclear which vehicle the substance was found in.

“We are aware of the incident, will gather more information and handle this matter appropriately,” a team spokesperson said in a statement to 92.3 The Fan.

Higgins posted a pair of tweets, which have since been deleted, appearing to joke about the situation.

The first tweet read, “Foot slipped srry” and the second, “Was Tryna get away from Covid” before removing both posts from his verified account.

Both players face fines of $124 for the citations. Wills could owe $233 for the speeding citation in November according to court records.

The Browns are scheduled to play in their first playoff game in 18 years Sunday night in Pittsburgh, but Tuesday was filled with bad news for the team.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski, left guard Joel Bitonio, receiver KhaDarel Hodge along with a pair of assistant coaches tested positive for COVID-19 and will not be available this weekend.

The team also placed defensive end Olivier Vernon and interior offensive lineman Nick Harris on injured reserve, ending their seasons.
