Eddie Olczyk will be the lead NHL game analyst for Turner Sports when TNT begins its coverage next season. Edzo and Kenny Albert will serve at the top broadcast team.

With that in mind, The Fan Morning Show talked to Olczyk on Wednesday. But how far he's come in regards to his health to get to this point can't be forgotten. He opened up about his status and all that he's gone through in the past and most recently.

"I'm feeling good. Just had my annual scan just the other day. Luckily and thankfully I'm all clean and clear so I can take a deep breath."

He followed that up by telling a humorous story about what those doctors' appointments in the hospital are like for him.

"Battled, almost four years ago hard to believe, stage 3 colon cancer. You get in there and get prepped for your scan and the nurse takes your blood pressure and your heart rate. She says, 'Everything ok?' I'm like, 'Well, you're the one that has the information there, you tell me.'

She goes, 'Well, your heart rate is a little up there and your blood pressure,' and I'm going 'Well, what do ya think? I'm a little excited here, you know?' She said, 'Your resting heart rate is like 63 normally but you're about 88, 89 today,' and I'm going, 'Well, yeah you guys are all real nice people here but I really don't like it here,' with a laugh.

After his cancer was discovered in August 2017, doctors removed 14 inches of his colon. Doctors then prescribed six months of chemotherapy, 12 treatments in total every two weeks lasting 48 hours.
