PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Altoona native Mike Iuzzolino joined the Robert Morris coaching staff in 2016, now head coach Andrew Toole is making him his top assistant.
"We're excited to promote Mike to associate head coach," Toole said in a statement released by the school.
"His tireless work ethic over the years both on the court and on the recruiting trail made it natural to move him into an elevated role. As we get ready for our first full season as a member of the Horizon League, I know Mike and the rest of our staff is ready for the challenge to get better on a daily basis."
Iuzzolino started his career at Penn State before transferring to St. Francis, PA. He would score 1,346 points in two years with the Red Flash. The 5'10" guard named NEC Player of the Year after an amazing senior season. Iuzzolino averaged 24.1 points per game while shooting 54% from the field, 53% from three and 80% free throws.
That season made him the 35th overall pick in the 1991 NBA Draft. He would play a couple of years with the Dallas Mavericks, two seasons in the CBA. Iuzzolino also played professionally in Italy, Greece and Spain.
With nine newcomers, Robert Morris opens its season Wednesday, November 10 at Central Florida. They will also play at Kentucky, Ohio and Davidson as part of its non-conference schedule.
