The high school sports community is in mourning after a former football player died this week.
Former Franklin Regional football player Joe Purdue died on Thursday after an eight-month battle with brain cancer.
The 19-year-old started a center for the Panthers, graduating in 2022. At the end of July, he found out about his diagnosis.
His mother confirmed Purdue’s passing with a post on Facebook.
Purdue’s friend Chase sang him a song just two weeks ago. Written by Chase, the song is called “Oh Brother.”
“The hug at the end is the most incredible bond of friendship you’ll ever see,” said Fan Morning Show host Colin Dunlap.
The video even got the attention of Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett.
