"He was a little sore today, but he comes to play and he's swinging the bat good," Astros manager Dusty Baker said.
A left leg contusion suffered on an awkward play the plate forced Altuve out of the Astros exhbition against the Royals on Tuesday in the fourth inning, but he singled in his first at bat Wednesday and felt good enough to attempt a steal of second base, which should put any fears of him missing Friday's game against the Mariners to rest.
"I feel really good today," Altuve said. "Just a little sore from yesterday but nothing to worry about for opening day."
