Major League Baseball has postponed the remainder of the weekend series between the Nationals and Mets after at least three Nationals players tested positive for COVID-19 this week.
This comes after their Opening Day game was postponed on Thursday after the first Nationals player tested positive. Since that decision, two more Nationals have tested positive, and possibly a third, news shared by the organization Thursday evening as they awaited additional test results.
The Nationals released the following statement on Friday: "Major League Baseball announced today that the remainder of this weekend’s series between the host Washington Nationals and the New York Mets at Nationals Park, which includes games scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, has been postponed due to continued follow-up testing and contact tracing involving members of the Nationals organization. We will continue to provide scheduling updates as available."
It's unclear at this time when the series will be made up. The Nationals are scheduled to begin a three-game series against the Braves on Monday.
