PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Beaver County football hits the national stage again. Last month it was the induction of Aliquippa’s Darrelle Revis to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Now a current NFL’er from a Beaver County school turns heads.

Safety Jordan Whitehead had three interceptions for the Jets against Josh Allen and the Bills on Monday Night Football. The Central Valley HS grad is the first Jet to have three interceptions in a game since Ty Law (also against the BIlls in 2006), a Pro Football Hall of Famer and Aliquippa HS graduate.

Surprisingly, 306 other players in pro football history have had at least three interceptions in a game. Whitehead is the first since Andrew Adams did so for Tampa Bay against Carolina in 2018. Steelers Jack Butler had four interceptions against Washington in 1953. Among others who have had three picks in a game:
·     Rod Woodson did it twice, but neither with the Steelers, 2002 with Oakland and 1997 with San Francisco
·     Darren Perry (Steelers vs. Cleveland 1994)
·     Richard Shelton (Steelers vs. Cleveland 1991)
·     Donnie Shell (Steelers vs. Cleveland 1981)
·     Mike Wagner (Steelers vs. Cincinnati 1973)
·     Paul Martha (Denver vs. Atlanta 1970)
·     Johnny Sample (Steelers vs. Philly 1961)
·     Dick Alban (Steelers vs. Washington 1958)
·     Jack Butler (Steelers vs. Baltimore 1957)
·     Tom Landry (Giants vs. Philly 1954)
·     Claude HIpps (Steelers vs Giants 1952)
·     1952 Night Train Lane had consecutive 3 INT games, one vs. Steelers
·     Ed Kissell (Steelers vs. Cleveland 1952)

Coming into the Monday Night game, Whitehead’s previous season high were two interceptions, each of the last three seasons. The three picks of Josh Allen give the former Pitt star 10 for his career.
