PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Pitt transfer guard Xavier Johnson has his own final four, currently down to four teams he could transfer to. According to ESPN, Johnson is considering Baylor, Houston, Indiana and St. Joseph’s.

Bears have one starting guard who is a senior, MaCio Teague, who averages 15.9ppg.  Teague would have the option to stay under the COVID free year policy.

Houston is in the Final Four for the first time since the early ‘80s.  Guard DeJon Jarreau is a redshirt senior with double the assists of anyone else on the team and averaging 10.8 points per game.  Jarreau could also play a sixth season.

Indiana recently fired Archie Miller and hired Mike Woodson.  That could give Johnson a clean slate to compete especially with starting guard Aljami Durham transferring to Providence and Armaan Franklin deciding on his future.  Hoosiers already have a former Panther on the roster.  Three point shooting specialist Parker Stewart transferred to Indiana after initially leaving Pitt for UT-Martin.  Stewart left after Pitt fired Kevin Stallings, so he and Johnson were never teammates with the Panthers.

The surprise name on the list is Atlantic 10’s St. Joseph’s.  The Hawks haven’t had a winning season since 2016 and won 11 games total in the last two seasons.  While St. Joe’s had a pair of guards average over 17 points a game, Johnson would still have a strong chance to start.
