PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Panthers coming off a comeback win against Syracuse and now gets their best shooting guard back, again.

Pitt announced on Wednesday it has reinstated guard Ithiel Horton to the basketball program despite facing charges for an alleged off-campus incident with a Pittsburgh police officer.

Horton initially charged in early November for the incident and suspended until charges were dismissed on December 30.  Horton would score 13 points in the first half of his first game at Louisville on January 5, including three of five on three-point field goals.  It would be the only game he played as charges were refiled on January 8, and Horton was again suspended.

Now the school is bringing the junior back after he pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct, in turn prosecutors dropped the charge of aggravated assault. Horton will serve 80 hours of community service, take anger management classes and undergo drug and alcohol assessments.

The New Jersey native immediately helps the 8-12 Panthers offense, which is currently last in the ACC at 61.6 points a game and last in three-point shooting at .301 percent.  Horton led Pitt with 43 made three-point field goals last season in 22 games.  He is a career 39.8 percent shooter from three.

Panthers are at Boston College Saturday at 4p.
