PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – He's been Pitt's most consistent player all season and now a semi-finalist for a national award.
Senior place kicker Ben Sauls is still in the running for the Lou Groza Award. He's made 17-20 field goals and perfect on extra points totaling a team-high 89 points. He also set a Pitt record with 15 consecutive made field goals from the end of last year until the middle of this season. Twice this year, Sauls was named the ACC Specialist of the Week.
Sauls is the third Pitt kicker to be a Groza semifinalist-Alex Kessman (2020) and Chris Ferencik (1995). He's one of four ACC kickers on the list-Andres Borregales (Miami), Collin Rodgers (SMU), Ryan Fitzgerald (Florida State).
