The Pitt men's basketball team has landed a big player, literally.

The 2021 American East Defensive Player of the Year Mouhamadou Gueye officially signed with the Panthers Tuesday.

The defensive 6 foot 9 inch forward averaged 9.7 points, 7.1 rebound and 3.1 block a game last season for Stony Brook.

"Mo [Mouhamadou] is a terrific athlete with a defensive mindset and a strong all-around skill set," said Capel. "We love his competitiveness and ability to play above the rim on both ends of the floor. He gives us another versatile, experienced forward who can help impact winning."

Gueye is the latest transfer to join the Panthers in the offseason with Jamarius Burton, from Wichita State/Texas Tech and Dan Oladapo, from Oakland.

Also joining are Chris Payton from Junior College Indian Hills and prep school "standout" Nate Santos.

Gueye is not the eight player that is 6 foot 7 inches or taller on the Pitt roster.
