PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – He was part of the backcourt physicality on defense that really showed itself in the win over West Virginia, now Pitt guard Damian Dunn is out until at least January.
The graduate-transfer not only suffered a left-ankle sprain early in the Greenbrier Classic championship game against Wisconson on Sunday, but also dislocated his right thumb on the play. It's expected he will miss at least six weeks.
A starter for each of the first seven games, Dunn is averaging 11.1 points while shooting 49 percent from the field including a team-high 53% from three. Foul trouble against LSU prevented him from scoring in double figures in six straight games.
Transferring from Houston and previously Temple, Dunn has scored 1,366 points with 388 rebounds and 204 assists in 116 career games.
The injury will mean a bigger role for Lincoln Park HS freshman Brandin 'Beebah' Cummings along with 6'8" freshman guard Amsal Delalic who scored a career-high nine points against Wisconsin.
