PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Losers of seven straight games, the hopes for Pitt baseball to make the NCAA Tournament will go through Carolina and its namesake ACC programs. As the ACC Tournament begins on Tuesday.

Panthers will face sixth ranked North Carolina Tuesday at 7p in Charlotte.  Pitt won a weekend series at home against the Tar Heels in mid-April, the only loss coming by a run in the finale.

On Wednesday at 7p, the Panthers face NC State.  The Wolfpack swept a series here in Pittsburgh earlier in the month and have won 12 of the 13 previous meetings between the schools.

Entering as the tenth seed in the pool-play tournament, Pitt would have to win both games to qualify for the ACC Tournament semifinals.

Panthers ranked as high as 16th entering the NC State series have won two of their last ten games since positive COVID-19 tests paused the season from April 23 to May 5.
