Pitt gets two consecutive pick sixes in the first 16 seconds of the game as they beat Virginia 37-7 Saturday.
On the very first play of the game MJ Devonshire read the pass from Brennan Armstrong and returned it 29 yards for a touchdown. On the very next offensive play from Virginia, Marquis Williams intercepted Armstrong and took it to the house for 39 yards as Pitt went up 14-0 in the first 16 seconds and never looked back.
The Panthers defense held Virginia to negative eight yards rushing and sacked Armstrong eight times in the game.
"The defense was outstanding and when they started that way, downhill for them at that point, we stopped the run on defense, made them earn anything they got on offense," said Pit coach Pat Narduzzi.
Running back Israel Abanikanda had another great performance as he ran the ball 24 times for 121 yards and a touchdown.
The Panthers picked up win number 6 on the season and are now bowl eligible with two games left in the regular season.
