'You get p***ed off' Narduzzi says loss a serious wake up call

Pitt's head coach says they are focused on Boston College after humiliating loss to NC State

Pitt Coach Pat Narduzzi says the Panthers are "focused, locked in" after a humiliating loss to NC State at Heinz Field on Saturday.

"It was really quiet, I think last night, I don't know if I've been in a team meeting where they were as quiet as I've seen, which tells me it hurts," said Narduzzi.

During his weekly press conference on Monday, Narduzzi said he thinks his players learned after Saturday's loss and called it a "wake up call," for the team.

"I like where we are after that loss, if a loss can be good for you, I think it could be good for us," said Narduzzi.

Narduzzi adds even when his teams in the past have been beaten by 20 points, there were still laughs and jokes in the locker room and that wasn't the case after the NC State loss.

"I know how I feel and you get pissed off, you know your pissed at what happened . . . I get made when they don't get mad . . . it was serious."

The Panthers were penalized 13 times for 125 yards, including 11 on defense and three on third downs.

Narduzzi says the running back suffered because of average play on the Offensive line.

"We just played average up front so if we keep playing average, we won't run the football very well but it all starts up front, on the O-line and the D-line if you're going to stop the run and run the football you better win up front and we've got to get more movement," said Narduzzi.

Narduzzi says with all the sacrifices the team is making during the pandemic, they can't play the way they did on Saturday.

"Comes down to having your mind right and I obviously didn't do a great job of getting them mentally prepared to come in and play that football game, for whatever it is and sometimes you have to learn by the fire there and I think that's really what happened," Narduzzi added.

Pitt travels to Boston College for a 4 p.m. kick this Saturday. The broadcast can we heard on 93.7 The Fan.
