PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – It took a couple of weeks, but forward Anthony Mantha did finally cash in after a huge season with the Pens last year. He got less than most anticipated initially, two years at $4.75 million per season with the New Jersey Devils according to Elliotte Friedman.
Mantha agreed to a one-year deal with the Pens last year for $2.5 million and went out and scored a career-high 33 goals (7 on the power play) with 31 assists on a resurgent Pens team. He ended the regular season with seven goals in the last nine games, although he didn’t score in the playoffs.
The 6’5”, 31-year-old played previously with Detroit (6 years), Washington (4 years), Las Vegas (18 games) and Calgary (13 games).
