Former Pittsburgh Penguins first round pick, Beau Bennett announced his official retirement from hockey Friday afternoon.
After 200 career games played, 129 with the Penguins, Bennett announced on Twitter that his body has had enough and it was time to call it quits.
The now 29-year-old broke into the league with the Penguins in 2013 also played with the New Jersey Devils and St. Louis Blues.
It was with the Devils Bennett had the best season of his career scoring eight goals and 11 assists for 19 points.
Bennett may most be known as an injury riddled player who looked to have plenty of skills but not a ton of luck.
He even alluded to it in his retirement announcement, he has a long list of injuries that fans are aware of but a longer one that goes unnoticed.
In the future Bennett is committing to mentoring young athletes to grow the sport of hockey.
