As feared, the Penguins have placed their Captain Sidney Crosby on injured reserve after he suffered an injured during the Olympics.
The Penguins made the announcement on Wednesday morning, a day before they restart the season after the break.
Crosby is out with a lower-body injury and according to Penguins PR is expected to miss at least four weeks.
The Canadian Captain took multiple hits during the quarterfinal game against Czechia.
He was seen favoring his right leg.
Crosby missed the next two games, including Canada’s loss to the United States in the gold medal game. Crosby was not initially ruled out for either game, but eventually didn’t play.
Now, Crosby will miss at least the next month of games.
Crosby have 27 goals and 32 assists over 56 games played this season.
The Penguins also announced the defenseman Kris Letang was taken off Injured Reserve.
The Penguins host the New Jersey Devils on Thursday night at PPG Paints Arena.
The Penguins are firmly in a playoff spot right now, in second place, eight points behind the Carolina Hurricanes in the Metropolitan Division.
