While nothing was set in stone, the Pittsburgh Penguins had a few names certain to represent their country at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing.

Mike Sullivan was slated to be Team USA’s head coach, and Sidney Crosby was one of the first three listed to join Team Canada.

Teams have begun to look for new players and coaching staffs that do not have current NHL affiliations.

Former Penguins and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins defenseman David Warsofsky has been rumored to be on a short list of players to join Team USA.

Frank Seracalli of Daily Faceoff tweeted a list 15 possible players that could be on the new list of invites.

Warsofsky, 31 from Marshfield, Mass., currently plays in the DEL with Ingolstadt ERC and has picked up three goals and 13 assists for 16 points in 31 games.

In 55 career games in the NHL Warsofsky has scored two goals and nine assists for 11 points. 19 games, a goal, and an assist came in a Penguins uniform.

His last season with the Penguins organization came in WBS and he picked up 33 points in 51 games.
